I'm posting this for my roommate.
He's a MacBook Pro 2.16G 15" that was purchased almost 1 year ago in his university computer store with student discount.

Now, his MBP can't even run unplugged. The computer will automatically shut down within 10 mins on battery. Also the front end of the casing is not sticking together.(has a quite obvious gap near the open lid button)

So, will he be able to exchange for a new one?

yea you have to give them a call for repair
they won't exchange it if they can fix it

and yea it has to be under a year

Ya. He just bought AppleCare recently which extends the period to 3 yrs right?

No hope for an exchange?? or anything they might offer since the repair is gonna take so long.

The shutdown probably is from a faulty battery. I had the same issue with my MBP. They'll just give him a new battery and it will be fine.

As far as the gap goes....I don't know, mine has the same problem but it happened after the battery problem and I haven't brought it up with them yet. I plan to do it soon, I hope they will fix it.

FYI, I have the exact same model (2.16 15")...looks like they had some QC issues for those two problems.
