My iPhone's 3G reception is always No Service or 1 bar in the majority of buildings that I go to, but not usually when I'm on the road. Also, there is supposed to be strong 3G coverage where I live, but I'm not really impressed with the 3G speed.

Is this something that has to do with my phone? Because I plan on exchanging it anyway because my screen is dark and there is dust under the screen too. Any chance that when I get a new phone the 3G reception will be better? And is it true that they will not exchange the phone when you have owned it more than 14 days?
