Exchanging unopened watch bands from different stores.

This would a watch band from a retail purchase at (non Apple) local store.

The Nike SE came with Anthricite Black which I'd like to exchange for their Ironstone/black one.

I'm hoping that given the boxes are separately sealed, they might do it.
I doubt it, but I thought I'd throw this out here.

If you are talking about making the exchange at the Apple Store, that is going to be a no go.

My experience with exchanging a band that came with an Apple Watch (purchased from Apple.com), is that an "exchange" is actually 1) refund of the entire watch plus band, then 2) a repurchase of the same watch plus a different band. In order to refund the initial purchase, they need to have a receipt in their system of the original purchase from Apple. (And only possible within first 14 days.)
Short answer: It is very unlikely you will be able to exchange a band not purchased directly from Apple. But I guess you can give it a try, you might get lucky.
