Traveling The World
Was there a activity challenge for today (December 25th)?

I know I’ve seen other stuff in the past... but then I’m in the UK so I doubt we get them all.

Which is a shame.

There was not for Christmas last year. There was a world wide one for the New Year that was announced shortly after Christmas.

There's supposed to be a News Years challenge this year. It will appear on the watch starting December 28th. It will require a full seven days of completing the rings in 2018. It will be worldwide.

There is no Christmas challenge.

Same as last year except 18. Also there was NO X-Mass challenge last year. Probably because it is supposed to be a religious holiday and not a (near) universal secular celebration.

Also the OP typed exclusive. Did they mean to type exercise?

I love Apple but I’m stunned at how they can make more money than any company of any kind in the world and yet not hire a small group of 1-4 employees who do nothing but create a constant stream of unique activity challenges and new badges to drive more and tighter user interaction with the Apple Watch. Such a small thing and to a company like this would cost nothing. Reusing the same challenge and nearly identical badge is just lazy, lazy, lazy.

If this were to happen then it would lower the value of the Challenges. Too much of a good thing is a bad thing. Apple must balance this so people look forward to them instead of 'bother' by a deluge of 'junk' Challenges popping up ever couple of days. This would lower the value of the :apple:Watch as people complained about all the excess 'junk'.

It will require a full seven days of completing the rings in 2018.

Mine appeared this morning and I've just received the badge for seven consecutive days. Clearly there is something wrong with the calculations (although I have had 7 consecutive days) because my December challenge is still showing 22 of 26 exercise days, as it has since 1 December, yet I've now been awarded the 'Jan 2018' badge.

Yes, there are certainly glitches. I was awarded the Mothers Day challenge simply by switching watches when I was getting ready to go out walking that day. I put on My Nike + that I use to go walking in and as soon as the watch synced all the current data the other watch showed, I was awarded the Mothers Day award.

It currently looks like there's an error in the date calculation for the challenges and it's always one month off, reading the data from the previous month instead of the current month.

For example, my December Challenge is for calories burnt, but since the first day of December right through until now, it's showed an unchanging total burnt calories that happens to match the number of calories that were burnt in November.

Similarly, tonight when I completed all three rings, I was awarded the Ring in the New Year challenge for next month, too.

I just got the ring in the new year challenge. I think it appeared yesterday but not sure what triggered it today as I’ve got a 13 day perfect streak.

Got mine so I bet everyone who completed the last 7 days did. Guess Apple accelerated the Challenge to help make up for the throttling.:D

Same here. Will follow this thread...

I’ve also got the 2018 ring in the new year badge today. Obviously I’m feeling very proud!

One thing that I'm a little disapointed with the activity app for the watch is there's not many achievements compared to FitBit app for exemple.

Achievements are important for motivations and I would love to see some for like do 10 000 steps per day etc. There is only like 20-25 achievements if my memory is okay and its not enough.

Filled my rings yesterday and earned the "challenge." Made me chuckle. Obviously a software bug, whether Apple does anything to fix it, has yet to be seen.

Noticed another bug or 2. The Badge doesn't have 'engraving' on back and my 12-18 Calories Challenge Badge has gone MIA.

I’ve earned over 45 achievements with my Apple Watch in the last 16 months. And then each of those have some duplicates like highest total calories or minutes in a day. I’ve gotten quite a few hundred medals in 16 months. I’m at 465 days of move streak. So that alone is 465 medals.

That would make sense, because looking back I seem to have missed both November and December challenges despite increasing my training schedule as (our) summer and tri season kicks in. If I look back I can see that I would have smashed both challenges, but no badges awarded.

Just as well I don't rely on my Apple Watch to track my training and use the three rings as a bit of fun...
