EXIF data and Date Created file attribute

Is anyone aware of any utility that can read the creation date/time in the EXIF data of a JPEG and then apply it to the Date Created file attribute?

Tired of arranging by date in Finder and finding totally unrelated events lumped together.

exiftool can. See eg http://u88.n24.queensu.ca/exiftool/forum/index.php?topic=5007.0

If you don't want to use Terminal, then try Graphic Converter. It can do that in a graphical interface; much easier: one click.

But note that it's not going to help in the long run. File dates are more mutable than exif timestamps, which is why we use other means than the Finder to sort by date (pretty much any photo software). The most common solution if you need a more permanent sorting solution in the Finder is to rename the images so that the sort order is preserved. Handy as well if you find something out-of-order by time (sometimes that happens with bursts).

If you get Graphic Converter to fix the dates you might consider using it instead of the Finder to browse images; it does a much better job of it.
