Exiting compass mode

Seems like a silly question, and I’ll probably be kicking myself, but I can’t get the watch to stop defaulting to this screen. I’ve tried force quitting the compass app, but it doesn’t close.

What am I missing ?

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but is there a cure for this behaviour?

If you tap the white ring, it should toggle between compass & clock, and should remain that way until you change it. Is yours not doing that?

Thanks for the replies.
I found a solution by Googling. Should have done that first - sorry. There are a couple of things that needed switching off in the general settings. Can’t remember them at the moment but they worked.
Tapping the white ring did nothing. I should also have said this is a S6 model.
