I have to admit, I'm pissed off. I really, really, REALLY liked this case...unfortunately, as with seeming every single one of these aluminum cases, it did a shred job to my reception. Link above is to part I - check description for Part II.

Good reviews bighabeeb, it just to show all these aly cases that either cover or touch the antenna are no good, for an iPod Classic/Nano/Shuffle that has no radio built-in, I'd say it would work (though Apple is already ahead of you on the Nano and Shuffle lol!), but on an iPhone 4 that is a COMMUNICATION device with full of radios, covering or touching the antenna will kill the signals for sure, might as well make them out of lead. All these "companies" or should I say some backyard factory with a CNC router should be ashamed of themselves for producing these form-over-function cases. I don't think any one of them followed the #1 rule by Apple on 3rd party cases and that is "no metal allowed to contact with antenna".

For me, protecting the glass is much more important... I'm eagerly awaiting for my Wave Leaf stainless steel skin from Downunder that a) do not cover or touch the antenna; and b) protects the glass back and being much stronger than aluminum - that's why the crazy scratching sound caused no damage to the antenna - because steel is stronger than aluminum - any day of the week! and c) they look damn sexy, almost a 3D look, this is the design I bought: http://www.iamleaf.com/wave.html Can't wait!

wow if only someone knew about this sooner

My Exo5 will be here this week. I'll post my results.
I'm posting this on my iPhone with an un modded Vapor and I have 4-5 bars.
And my speed test upload is just at 3. Your service provider is the key factor.
With my old provider I went in to edge with my Vapor.

I bought 3 different cases from exovault. Frist the brass exo5, reception was ok but not great. I then exchanged it for the exo 6 hoping that i would get better reception but no, still pretty poor reception. I then went for an aluminum case and the reception was better than the brass, but the brass cases are so much cooler looking it's ridiculous. I decided to just stick with the brass exo5 and it was fine at first but today, after having it on for 3 weeks i decided to just take it off and i might try and sell it.

It really sucks because these are pretty much the coolest cases i've seen for an iphone. I would just suck it up, but i get pretty much ZERO reception in my room and that's a place where i definitely need reception. Has anyone had GOOD reception with a brass exovault case with the iphone 4? what about the iphone 3gs?

Also, what do you guys think of the vapor cases? I just went on there website and i do like them, but I hate how they only cover the sides of the phone. That's was another great thing about exovault, you actually had your ENTIRE phone protected and not just a the sides, leaving the front and the back(the most fragile part) exposed. what's reception like on the vapor?

Wow, If only you would take a hint and go back to pulling the wings off flies for your kicks.

man buyers regret must suck, well i would say that to a normal person but it seems like you spend your money on stuff like this like its crack

Man, I buy sooooooo much stuff. These cases are the cheapest things I buy. I'm a electronics junkie! I gotta find ways to help with the cost of my habit. I do installs, consult and repair PC's as a hobby to support my need for the latest gear. This way, when I buy it's guilt free:D The girlfriend can't bitch about it because I didn't really cost me anything:D

You sound like such a winner too

Look forward to hearing about your results...the Exo 6 dropped me from 3G to edge every time i put it on, so that was way way poor...the exo 5 as the vid shows, had issues too - and it upset me because I really like the design of that one!

You're funny. Did you really waste time digging through my posts trying to find a comeback. I have an awesome idea. Why don't we all try treating each other with respect and enjoy our experiences here. I'll forget anything negative You have said in the past and read all your comments with fresh eyes and you can do the same for me by forgiving my rude comment about flies, wings and such.
I'm just here to make friends and learn about cool new gear.
And yes, I am a winner :D

Sounds good, man :shakes hands:

Don't get me wrong the look of the cases are gorgeous, I just can't see myself using something that could (hey some people get lucky) decrease the use of the primary function of the device, i need my phone to make calls, I need my pager to receive pages, etc.

I hear ya. I make my living with my phone. ( no, not a drug dealer lol ) It has to work or I don't get clients. I honestly have 4-5 bars with my Vapor at home, the office and around town. We will see how the Exovault works out. I like to change cases a lot depending on what I'm doing. A case that doesn't require screws to take off is a great plus for me. Most of the stuff I buy for my phone can be written off. You are right, this can become a very expensive hobby. I realized this today when I dropped my phone and was concerned about scratching the case lol.

Yea, that was my primary appeal abotu the exo5 was the screwless installation. Unfortunately in my area, my signal is weak enough that it just got totally fragged (though the exo 6 was actually worse).

On a positive side, Exo has been very cool about the whole thing: I gave them some feedback and they've asked to review the videos: not to dispute them but so they can provide prospective clients with good information about where the case may or may not work. I have to say, I found that approach to be VERY refreshing!

Yeah, it seems we have 2 kinds of companies here. One just wants the product out good, bad finished or not. The other seems to be artists making show off pieces for the IPhone. Both are faced with the same problem. Metal on metal will affect reception and there is no way around it. All of us love the looks of the metal cases and thats why we keep going back for more. We keep hoping that somehow one of these guys will find a way to bend the laws of physics. We would't be having most of these issues if Apple had done some real world testing before they decided to put the antenna on the outside of the phone, but that's a whole other can of worms. I would advise anyone who has 3 bars or less NOT! to buy any aluminum case.

Well, I got my Black engraved Exovault Exo5 today. I gotta say this case a work of art. It is really, really well made and the craftsmen ship is top shelf. The big question is .......will I keep it? It is such a tight fit that I had to take off the front screen protector my back sgp and the lucky labs sides. I'm thinking that I could remove the black lining inside the case and get my screen protector back on and maybe the back as well. I don't think there is much I could do about the Lucky Labs. I like switching up cases and I like having the Lucky labs on the sides. Speed test were up avg 4682 down avg 755 pretty much the same as with no case. The ports are nice and open so I can see no problem with any head phones or chargers. I plan on buying my Macro lens tomorrow when I'm out of town so I'll post pics on Saturday when I get back. I think I'll take this baby into the city with me to really test it out.

Looking forward to hearing your feedback. I found the same about it fitting disturbingly tightly around the phone (that metal on metal "SCRAAAAAAPE" sound going in and out really bugs me).

I have to say, the Exo 5 may well be my favorite of the cases I've seen...unfortunately it was no kinder to my reception - hope you have better luck!!!
