I just thought of a feature I'd like included in a future version of Mac OS X. If anyone else could make use of it, I'll submit it to Apple.

Anyway, here's what I thought would come in handy:

Normally, if you drag a file from one folder on a disk to another folder on that same disk, the file gets moved. You can force a copy by holding down Option as you drag.

However, if you drag a file from one disk to another disk, the file is normally copied. Holding down the Option key as you drag doesn't do anything different - what I'd like is to be able to force a move (making the little plus symbol next to the mouse disappear, as it does for moves) by holding Option while dragging.

You hold the Command key to do that.
Cless, thank you so much. This little tip will save me lots of time, since I move files from disk to disk all the time on my Mac. I honestly did not know about that particular keyboard shortcut.
