"Expander" Software (a la Stuffit) driving me nutsier

I must have a setting somewhere that is doing this to me.

Every time I download a *.rar file, Stuffit Expander (and every other expander I have tried) immediately and automatically tries to expand it. There seems to be no way to shut off "auto-expand" on any of the expander programs, so I must have mistakenly set up something in the OS that is doing this to me.

It's really annoying when the expanders try to expand a multi-part file when only the first .rar has downloaded.

Any ideas?

Are you using Safari? If so, is this box in Preferences checked?

No, I use mozilla firefox, and this is an issue with expander software, I believe, not browser software.
