I currently have a mid 2014 15" MBP 256gb
I was hoping to purchase a 512gb 2016 MBP today after the keynote, however the ridiculous pricing here in Australia has put a stop to that.
My main problem is I need a larger capacity HD then my current 256gb. I see that there are expandable HD's that use the SD card slot to expand the total HD capacity of the MBP.
Has anyone gone down this route? I am currently looking at the 'Transcend Jetdrive 256gb,' and would love some feedback from users who are/were in a similar position to me.
I would ideally like to replace the existing SSD with the 512gb SSD, however they're too expensive.

Anyone got any ideas/experience in this area?
Cheers

Have you checked on EBay? Sometimes there are sellers who have SSD's which were pulled from working or broken MacBooks, but the drive itself is in working condition.

Mind you the slot does not have high bandwidth. So it is just good for storing media. It also prevents you Mac from hibernating unless you install the provided utility or use third party tools.
