Suppose you purchase a new-in-box iPhone 12 Mini or 13 Mini. I'd imagine that, because of their age, they're not going to be at 100% battery health.

Can anyone who's recently purchased a new iPhone 12 or 13 tell me what the starting battery percentage is?

And, relatedly: The main advantage of the 13 Mini over the 12 Mini is reportedly battery life. But what if you're comparing, say, a new 12 with a used 13 that's at 85%?

For the right price you should get it, special if it’s new-in-box. Worset case, change the battery down the road.

I bought a renewed 12 mini for $211.00 from Amazon on August 11 2024. This is my first Apple product in many years and I am shocked at how much I love this phone. It currently has 98% battery. The battery lasts a long time and I love the small size.

Hard to compare the 12 to the 13 as hardware differs and different scenarios might impact battery usage different.

Since the 13 has a different modem and more countries are rolling out 5G the 13mini might perform better and use less battery than a 12 would do if you are using 5G much. Same goes for gaming, it has a better CPU/GPU so if you are playing it might be a big difference in terms of battery.
Just basic browsing or using non CPU intensive software on wifi might not be that different.

But its obvious that the 13 seem to have a better battery performance overall.

And in terms of battery stats, it should be 100% out of the box if its new.
