Anyone have any expections as to what an original iPad might be worth after the second one is released? I don't mind losing money, just not too much. Recently purchased the original 16GB Wifi model and would use it for a couple months until, or if a new model is released. Paid $470 total for it with Apple's refurbished discount. I have no problem selling it for $375-$400 in a couple of months (I'd keep it in mint condition with the screen protector/case. Does anyone think it'd be worth much less then? Thanks for the input.

Much less, especially after the new iPad launches and you will see what a turd the first iPad were all along.

You can read more about it here.

Sarcasm aside, I think plenty of people want to buy a pre-owned iPad, although at a reduced price.

You might find that the refurbished store is getting filled with iPad's at a heavily reduced rate.

You're right. I think I'm going to have to suck it up, return it, and wait. I really wanted a new one but o'well.

It would be hard for me to buy a used refurb for more than $350 and that's knowing I wouldn't have a full year warranty with it, just whatever was left from the time of your purchase but that could be a plus over someone selling their non-refurbished year old unit with no warranty or a few months left.

You're in San Fran so you probably could get more than $350 using Craigslist. I think resell value depends on your location

I would try to sell it before places like CNN,FOX, Yahoo etc start talking more about the iPad2.

I've bought and sold a dozen or so iPads on the local CL and expect the price to drop about $75 to $100 bucks when the next iPad is officially released. I can still sell a base model for $450 all day long. While some people already freaking out and selling their's for 375 to 400, or less. Best deal so far was buying a 16gig 3G for 360 and selling for 550. Some people want to dump an impulse buy, those deals will always be cheap but the resell market will still be a good one.

I say knock off 100-150 bucks from retail considering it's in great condition.

Wouldnt expect it to hold nearly as well as a iphone, since it's not a phone device. If my 32gb wifi still holds above 400 I'll try and sell it, otherwise (esp considering insane ebay fees as of late) I may hand it off as a present. Newer is better, but aside from the occasional need for flash I doubt anyone will find the ipad lacking for daily use.

it's becoming more and more obvious that the market will be absolutely flooded with used iPads in the next few short months and that is really going to drop the resale value. People are going to be getting some great deals on the first iPad. Still though its hard to really pinpoint how much a device will drop when a 2nd one will release when we have no concrete info on it; it'll definitely drop, but depending on how many reseller's it could be drastic lol
