I have had an Apple Watch since SO, but have always sold the old one when I upgraded. This year I have embraced my inner disney fan (don‘t judge) and could not turn down the S6 product red (picture it with mickey face). However, while the red is fine for day to day, sometimes I need to be taken seriously, so for the first time I am going to keep my previous year watch (s5) with gold to use on more formal occasions. Not sure how to balance two watches, do I keep them both charged or is that bad for the battery? Anyone with experience using two AW’s? Tips?

WatchOS 7 addressed battery management and should avoid that being a problem.

Have you considered just powering off the one you’re not going to be using for a few days or weeks? Battery drain should be minimal.

What I personally do - especially after my S0 SS Black battery bulged after 5 years (which I guess isn't too bad) - got that fixed a few months ago. But I power the S0 totally down and wear my S4 Steel. I tend to wear that the most now. I'll power up the S0 if I want to wear that one...keeping that on a charger 24/7 with no use might be killing the internals more?? Anyway, I turn it off, hopefully not putting more strain on that battery.

Keep both charge when you don’t use any of them but turn on battery optimization on both of your watches.
Better yet, use one you don’t use on the day to track sleep.

I’ve been rocking two since the S2 came out. No issues, when I’m using one the others on the charger.

Only weird thing is when I am wearing one and the other on the charger starts ringing because the car warranty scammers call the watches specific number.

If you put down one watch and wear on the other.... how long before your Activity Rings and data are passed from one watch to the other?
I use 2 watches with same face on both. When one gets down low I switch them and they automatically tell which one I’m wearing and the data updates fairly quick. if impatient I just open watch and click on the pedometer and activity icons and they update right then. A couple times they got stubborn but just reset phone.

Great.... Thanks 👍. I must make sure I give them different names.

Ones on mines a 4 and others 5 soon to be a 6. I keep different band on each as I like same face on both.

I've been wondering if running two watches works for the Fitness rings etc. I have always had only one but with a Series 6 on the way was thinking of keeping my Series 4 to use some days. Is there any trick to making it work seamlessly when setting up the new/additional watch?

When I change watches say in the middle of the day within a few minutes everything transfers over.

i am doing this for the first time since getting my S6 and decided to keep my S4. So far the change between the watches has been essentially instant (under 10 seconds) when I put one down and put the other one on.

Once in a very great while it may not update. I just click on the app on the watch and it wakes it up.

Just a note they can only sync when your iPhone is within range. The watches don't communicate directly. Also here is a great quote from Apple Support about multiple watch usage.
Only one Apple Watch can be active at a time. To switch, take off your current watch, put on another one, then raise your wrist or move your arm. watchOS doesn't support wearing two watches at once, and it doesn't support sharing watches between multiple users at the same time.

Your watches share Activity and Workout information, so your progress automatically updates after you switch. If you put on a different watch to work out, you can still see all your steps, stand credit, and exercise credit for the day. Depending on how much information needs to sync, it might take a minute for you to see all your progress.
