I love the look and the thoght of the western digital mybook hard drives. They seem like a good idea in form and design, as well as the fw800 daisy chaining and fw800 to the computer.

experiences

etc.??????

thanks!

Only the MyBook Pro models have FW800 ports, the MyBook Premium models have FW400 + USB 2.0 and the MyBook Essential only has USB 2.0.

The Pro models are pretty expensive for the FW800 port. I have a Premium on order so I can't comment on how good these are yet.

I have the 500 GB My Book premium with the 2 firewire 400 & usb 2. I used it to record audio for 10 hrs. straight with my MacBook Pro without a hitch. So I would imagine that the Pro version should be just as good.
By the way if you don't need the FW 800 interface, I believe I saw the Premiums for about $250 at Costco (kind of like Sam's club without the Walmart connection). I picked mine up for $279 a few months ago and I still feel like I got a good deal.
