Experiences with mailing phone back to AT&T?

hey guys!
I know in the Next upgrade thread(s) a couple of people have mentioned that it's better to trade your phone back into a store if possible. Has anybody mailed their phone in and had a positive experience or is it an overall negative thing? When you use their prepaid label, is a tracking number included?
