I have an early 2011 13-inch macbook pro. I want to replace the hdd with a ssd. I have been looking all over the internet and continue to find people who have had issues with every ssd from samsung 840 pro and evo to owc ssd and crucial ssds in the early 2011 versions or just 2011 in general. I am not necessarily looking for the top notch ssd with the fastest speeds but at this point i just want to buy one that I am confident will work. So I just would like some feedback from people who have successfully done this and with what ssd.

Thanks

I suggest taking some time to read the sticky at the top of this forum. You don't need to go through the whole thing. Just the first page, and the last several.

i have 13" early 2011 w/ i7 2.7 cpu and 8 gb ram

installed a samsung 840 evo 500 GB SSD last week and everything works great

I think SSDs work well on all the older MBPs. I have one on my 2010 MBP as well - I see a lot of advantages. Its a great way to speed up and give the computer a little more life :)
