Export birthdays FROM ical TO address book

I never really used Address Book much, but now that I am getting an iphone I am setting up groups and all my contacts.
My problem is that I had previously set up all my friends/families birthdays directly into ical with reminders. (In hindsight, silly I know now, but it was ages ago.)
Can I export these birthdays TO address book?
Thanks in advance for any tips.
