Export imovie HD to imovie '08

HEllo all,
There seems to be a problem. I may be missing a step can anyone help? I export my imovie hd to quicktime DV. I want to import it into imovie '08. It says it is loading the movie and creating thumbnails but when it is all done. Nothing was imported. What the heck?
