Hi,all

Theres a small problem that I need to work around. I've finished editing my video, and now I've just found out I need to export to Mini DV, but my JVC GR-DVL 160EK only has a firewire out! I'm using a Powerbook G4 and I don't think there are any DV-IN widgets which are compatile with both, also this is a low budget video so we cant rent a camera, is there any cheap hardware or ways round this, please anything.

Thanks in advance

In some cases you can "upgrade" the firmware on the camera to enable DV-In as well as out on the camera. If that's not available then there is no real solution. Google is probably your friend.

If you're using final cut you could plug in your vcr to your s-video out on your powerbook, switch to mirror mode, and then select "full screen cinema preview" from the view menu in FCP. Then, it would play out to your vcr. If you're using imovie, i dunno....click your heels together three or four times.

I haven't dug around too deeply in the above link but it seems to start off talking about widgets etc. That's fine but keep looking as most cameras that can be upgraded can be done free if you know how. I did my canon upgrade from instruction off the net through the remote(there were hidden keys under the front cover) of course the widgets are only £20 but the company's that used to do the canon ones had been forced to stop when I was looking.
