Which iMovie version do you have and do you just want to export a clip from the library or a finished sequence? If it is the latter, iMovie > Menu Bar > SHARE gives you plenty of options of export, as an SD card is only a transfer medium, you have to decide, for which consuming device the export is meant for.

I'm exporting from internal memory of a Sony camcorder onto iMovie. Now I want to put it on an sd card to put back in the camcorder.

What do you want to put back? A clip you previously imported or the finished sequence / project (the accumulation of selected and trimmed clips in order to show them in the order you decided)?
And again, what iMovie version and what exact Sony camcorder do you have and why does it need to be on the camcorder? I just ask, as it is not that easy, and maybe there are other ways to accomplish this.

Sony HDR PJ380. I want to be able to put the sd card back in the camcorder because it has a built in projector.
I'm using iMovie version 9.0.8.

I've never used iMovie before, I'm not trying to edit or create anything. I just want to get the video that I took off of the internal memory and onto the sd card, either in the camcorder or via my macbook.
