I recently finished a video that I cropped in FCE using its widescreen filter to 2.35:1 aspect ratio. The sequence is set to NTSC 4:3 and the raw footage that was cropped was shot in 16:9 aspect ratio.
Ok, that's enough background.
I'm trying to export this timeline to DVD Studio Pro while maintaining the 2.35:1 aspect. I wanted to do this by exporting a file with a height smaller than 480 and cropping it to fit - thus creating a video file of the correct aspect without letterbox.
So I exported the video as an H.264 MOV file at the absolute highest settings cropped very nicely... but DSP won't import the file.
Choosing "Export QuickTime Movie..." in FCE instead of "QuickTime Conversion..." will always only give me a 4:3 export.
The only reason I care about cropping the video is because several people that will be viewing the film have 16:9 HDTVs and I rather the video not appear on the 16:9 screen as a 4:3 video stretched horizontally.
Thanks.
