Exporting Images with Embedded metadata from iPhoto

Out of curiosity, if I apply a bunch of keywords, then tag all of my photos using Places & Faces, and then finally export all of my photos, does all of the iPhoto applied metadata get embedded in the exported photos so that it will be viewable from other applications (such as lightroom and photoshop)?
