is there a way to export an itunes playlist from one computer (my imac) to my itunes on my macbook? not the actual songs, but the content and order of the songs on the playlist?

Select the playlist (below Playlists), choose File > Export, and then choose XML from the Format pop-up menu.

Choose File > Export Library. The exported information will be saved in a XML format.

Import your playlist on the other Mac by choosing File > Import. If the songs are not in your iTunes library, they will be automatically deleted from the playlist.

Good Luck!
