exporting shows from DVR to Mac

didnt know what section to put this in.

So i would like to know if its possible to download shows from my DVR box on to my Mac? and if so how?

For a DVR box i have the Scientific Atlanta explorer 8300HD DVR from time warner cable... http://www.sciatl.com/products/consumers/new_explorer8300HD.htm

I see that it has a USB port in front

anyone? I know it can be done some how. I've seen people upload show clips and screen shots on the internet

The only way i no is to get a tv tuner, then play the recording back while recording on the mac, some boxes have an option where the video is only outputted vis rf so u can continue watching tv.
