Exporting video from Final Cut Express = Bad Quality?

I filmed the footage with a Canon HG10, captured and edited the video, the quality is amazing in FCE, but when i export at a quicktime/avi file, the quality goes bad. here is a sample.

i dont get it. iam a newb to macs, can someone please help me out?

If you really are exporting as the AVI codec in quicktime, that's your problem. You'll want to export as H.264. Vimeo has the exact bit rates, resolutions, and framerates they support on the FAQ.

You'll be much happier with the results when you do that.

i saved as h.264 but the quality is still not very good on vimeo.
