Expose and App switching animations much slower than in El Cap

Okay so I've going back and forth between my 2014 13" MBP with El Cap and my 2015 15" MBP with Mojave. Seems like app switching animations are noticeably slower in Mojave than in El Cap. It's like the whole animation has to complete before doing another one whereas with El Cap it's not like that. In El Cap I could keep scrolling upward and the Expose animation keeps going back and forth rapidly. In Mojave scrolling upward shows all the open windows but I now have to scroll back downward to get the windows back to full screen. I've tried with both the internal trackpad and the Apple Wireless Trackpad on both Macs. I don't recall this being the case with El Cap on the 15" MBP but perhaps I'll revert back and double check. Anyone else having this issue? Scrolling up/down in webpages is very fast and moving the mouse cursor is nice and quick but not Expose.
