Express and port forwarding?

Okay, mapping is the same thing as forwarding right? I'm desperately trying to set up my express to allow port 21 so I can use ftp, and I can't get it to work. It works fine when I'm plugged directly into my cable modem, so it's not my ISP. I set it up in the airport utility, but it doesn't work. How the heck do you use port mapping on an airport express?
 
have you made sure the private IP address you're mapping to is that of your machine with the FTP server on? The AExpress picks one by default, which may not be the right one for you
