Hello, am stuck! I have a G4 mirror doors running 10.2.8. One FW external drive will not mount, but shows up grey in disk tools. It is formated MS-dos, but this disk will mount on PBP running 10.5 easily. Also, other FW externals will mount if formated HFS in the G4. Any help would be great. Thanks

I had the same problem once.
Had an external drive, connected it via Firewire to a G4 PowerMac with 10.2.8 on it, and it wouldn't mount, despite being shown in the Disk Utility window (but greyed out).
It was also formatted in FAT 32 (MS-Dos for Disk Utility)
It mounted okay on a MacBook with 10.5.
The solution, I took another drive.
Maybe you can upgrade your system as far as it gets, if you can and it's not an Avid administered by someone else.
