Hey guys. I hope this is the right spot to post this.
Ive just switched to osx, from win xp.
I have an ext hdd from my pc, with all my music, and ableton projects on.
I was wondering if i can if i can format, 1/2 the drive, to mac recognizes it. And swap files?

If you can point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated

What format (file system) does it use then?

Either check via Get Info in Finder or Disk Utility.

Or does it not show up even in Disk Utility?

FAT32
  • Read/Write FAT32 from both native Windows and native Mac OS X.
  • No individual file larger than 4GB.
NTFS
HFS
  • Read/Write HFS from native Mac OS X
  • To Read/Write HFS from Windows, Install MacDrive
  • To Read HFS (but not Write) from Windows, Install HFSExplorer

But if the HDD is already full or was full before, partitioning will only work with an empty HDD, as the data will be deleted, thus you need to copy the data to your internal or any other HDD first.
