I need help visualizing and understanding something.
I have a 2014 13" macbook pro retina.
2560 x 1600
227 ppi
I also have a late 21.5" 2009 imac.
1920 x 1080
102 ppi
I'm just not good at evaluating the parameters involved.
To compare the two screens, I typed zeros across the screen in a Note, using the default English font but increasing the size to 18pt (hiding the folders pane). I find I can fit 165 zeros across the screen on my imac versus just 87 zeros on the mbp-r. The text on the imac is just a tiny bit larger that on the mbp.
If I set aside the idea of using SwitchResX, from what I have read the U2515H is one of the best monitors that my mbp can run.
U2515H
2560 x 1440
117.49 ppi
I'm wondering what I would gain in running the U2525H with my mpb-r versus just using my imac when I need a larger monitor.
If I were to view this same Note file, would the text I see on the U2525H appear larger or smaller than what is on the mpb?
Come to think of it, if someone has the U2525H, and really wants to help me out
, could you open a new Note file, hide the folders pain and reduce the left hand file names pane to its smallest width, and tell me how many zeros (or any number other than 1) can fit across the screen before continuing on the next line?
You could cut and paste this:

Finally, would the 117 ppi be all that noticeable an improvement over the imac?
I guess there is also the anti-glare on the Dell to be considered.
The other thing I am not sure of is if there is any difference in the acceptable viewing angles between the dell and the imac.
