my macbook pro 7,1 revision runs extremely slow on battery and the system is all jumpy, it is fine on mains power.

i have booted in safe mode and this seems to solve the problem

in activity monitor the kernel task process is showing between 160-190% cpu usage

i have done a pram reset and a smc to no avail

any help would be much apreciated

Dave

PRAM/NVRAM has nothing to do with battery/power/charging issues, so resetting that won't help. Launch Activity Monitor and look at "All Processes" instead of "My Processes", to identify what is using system resources.

Checked again and it was same as my first post , its crazy

Could the battery be faulty ? But then it works fine on battery in safe mode

Check your Energy Saver settings. Maybe on battery you have lower CPU and GPU?

Is it rebuilding Spotlight?

No its not rebuilding spotlight etc, its Basicly unusable on battery due to the speed of it

Like I said the cpu is pretty much maxed out .

I have tried a different hd too but still the same
