The technology may work, but it's not going to extend any phone's battery life by 12x, or anything like that. It replaces one wire that connects the transmitter to the antenna, and that technology "consumes 12 times less power than the traditional, wired-transmitter module." Obviously, that is not the only thing in a phone that consumes power, not by a long shot. The author of the article used faulty logic in making such an inaccurate statement.

The inventor goes on to say "There are so many applications in the iPhone, it's like a power-sucking machine". I think he means functions, but I bet someone, somewhere read this and started deleting a bunch of free games to save battery life.
