Extend Verizon Fios range?

I'd like to use my macbook upstairs, but I can't, because the default Verizon ActionTec router.

What could I use to extend the range for my macbook?

My APE is downstairs and I use my MBP upstairs all the time. That Actiontec Router may not have a good reach. I'm upstairs right now and I am getting 22.04 Mbps

I use the Actiontec as a wired router to feed my AirPort Extreme (downstairs) and Time Capsule (upstairs). I also get good coverage with only one of the Apple devices on.

Can you relocate the Actiontec to the second floor? Higher antenna height generally gives better range...
