My aluminum extended keyboard numeric keys do not function as they did before I upgraded to 10.9. The preference file for keyboards has been deleted to no avail. The software prompts to change keyboard from Japanese to ANSI doesn't seem to take. The menu bar icon says I have an extended Apple keyboard, but I cannot correctly use the numeric pad in Excel, Word, or NotePad. Ideas?

6 Days Later: Apple Support was very helpful in troubleshooting this. We did a number of restarts, file test, and file deletions. However, it seems Mavericks own error checking came up with "Mouse Keys are not set". I do not use that feature but opened the dialog and voila! the keypad came operational.

I am now a Mavericks affection ado!
