Extended Network Slow

I bought an Airport Express to extend my Time Capsule network. Both are wireless N and set for 2.4ghz. Everything works fine, except for the fact my speed goes from 15mbs down when near the time capsule to 1-2mbs down when near the Express. Any reason why?
