On Wikipedia, MacOS High Sierra has extended support until 2020. After that would it be ideal to use Firefox instead of Safari for safer web browsing? I’m bringing this up as I’m reading into this as Apple will no longer provide security updates or Safari updates past 2020.

I got a 2011 MacBook Pro that I’d like to keep running until it dies. :)

Short answer is yes. Slightly longer answer, is that you might still be able to get updated Safari builds to install through the Tech previews or WebKit source code.
