Hi

I want to shoot photographs with my Canon 5D tethered to my MacBookPro.

I can't afford the wireless option ( £1,000 eek!!) so I'm stuck with sticking the camera into the computer via USB. Problem is I need to use it at distances greater than the 5m allowed by USB connections. I know there are active extenders available but have been told that these might not work with my MBP because they draw power from the computer USB output and the MBP's might not be enough.

Has anyone any knowledge of this and any suggestions as to how I could move forward? If there isn't enough power in the MBP USB port would a powered hub attached to it help It wouldn 't damage the camera would it?

I bet there are some eyeballs rolling here but I'm sadly a bit ignorant of all of this and would really appreciate the help :)

If possible I'd like to hear of someone who has tried this with a camera.

Thanks for reading. All advice gratefully received.
