Hi i have this extern harddrive, its a western digital 500 gb.
what have happend is that the usb cable broke.
its one of those small cables..

what is such a cable called & where can i buy a new one?

How does a cable "break"? Were you swinging from it or something?

It will be a standard USB-2 cable, probably like a printer cable. The length doesn't matter, perhaps yours broke because it was too short and you had to stretch it to reach. Any replacement cable will work, just make sure it's USB-2 compliant. Even if it's a mini-cable, like with digital cameras, you should be able to buy those at a computer store or digital camera store. :apple:

its not like ripped in pieces ^^
but we have so many of those kinda mini-cables lying around, but they all have diffrent sizes and shapes in the small end of the cable
