Just purchased a new mac book pro 15 retina and looking to buy a compatible external usb 3.0 DVD drive with blue-ray capability. Did some research and below are 3 that I found with decent reviews:

1. LITE-ON USB 3.0 12X External Blu-ray Disc Writer Model eHBU212-08 LightScribe Support

Newegg.com - LITE-ON USB 3.0 12X External Blu-ray Disc Writer Model eHBU212-08 LightScribe Support

2. ASUS USB 3.0 12X Blu-ray Burner Model BW-12D1S-U/BLK/G/AS

Newegg.com - ASUS USB 3.0 12X Blu-ray Burner Model BW-12D1S-U/BLK/G/AS

2. BUFFALO USB 3.0 MediaStation 12x External Blu-ray Writer Model BR3D-12U3

Newegg.com - BUFFALO USB 3.0 MediaStation 12x External Blu-ray Writer Model BR3D-12U3

Will all these work with the Mac? Does not say anywhere.... Any recommendations would be great.

Thanks

What are you expect to get out of a USB 3.0 optical drive? You will not get any faster data transfer speeds from USB 3.0 over USB 2.0 when accessing optical media. They will not be able to natively play blu-ray media in OS X. They will be able to read blu-ray data discs and read unencrypted blu-ray movies.
