Long story short,

bought a 4TB HD to use as a backup for my 2 external RAID1 drives, my old dock won't recognise bigger than 2TB units, bought a new case and installed it but same issue but this time DiskUtility sees the extra 2.2TB partition but always fails to retrieve the space, how do I solve it?

Grazie

DiskUtil kept failing no matter what, I found this simple command to execute on terminal diskutil partitionDisk /dev/disk2 GPT JHFS+ NewPartition 0b and after this I converted into ExtFat and it worked smoothly

Thank you for your attention and sorry Apple but you making things worse and worse with every new iteration of MacOs, I never thought I would say so but am very tempted to get back to Mr Gates also to support his divorce
