I store all of my photos on an external drive, not on the computers (IMac) hard drive. I want to add a second external drive and mirror everything I put on the first external drive. I understand that I can daisy chain two external drives together but I don't know how to download photos to both external drives at once. Help?

Designate one external as your "primary" external drive.
Designate the second one as your "backup" external drive.

Use either CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper to "clone" the primary to the backup at regular intervals.
Two or three times a week should do fine.
Or even once a day if you wish.
Once the initial (full) cloned backup is done, the "incrementals" go quickly!

To do a "real-time mirror", seems like you would need RAID.
Really, not worth the trouble in my opinion.
Perhaps there's another option someone can offer.

Perfect! Thanks for taking the time to answer my question....
