I like LightScribe & would love to be able to play Blu-Rays on my iMac.

Does such a thing exist?

I bought an ext LG bluray burner and player. It recognises bluray movies when I put them in, but I havent tested tto see if they play via vlc or any other software.

For lightscribe you need software that supports it. I don't know if Toast does, but that's where I'd start.

For Blu-ray disc playback, you need MakeMKV and VLC. You use MakeMKV as a decrypting/de-HDCP streaming server to VLC. You get no menus, only 5.1 Dolby Digital or DTS audio and no subtitles. Othewise, you have to boot into Windows and use one of their apps for playback.

Any Blu-ray drive in a 5.25" enclosure should work.

BTW, I went on the LS site & they now have Mac support (if they didn't before). Looks like the LS part will be no problem (if I'm reading things right).

Please bare with me on the Blu-Ray part (I'm also a Mac newbie), but to get full BR functionality, I'll need to get Windows & use Boot Camp, correct? If so, everything should work?
