I have a bluray/dvd/cd player (pioneer bdr-xd05w). It worked fine ~6 months ago, was able to play blu-rays fine. Than about ~2 months ago it wouldn't play blu-ray or cds (didn't try dvds, but I am guessing that also).
I have OS X Yosemite version 10.10.3 Macbook pro retina 13-inch late 2012. Also tried it on my roommates macbook air and it didn't work either. It does work on my other roommates sony windows laptop (so I know it's not the player itself).
I am guessing it has to do with the updates...I always update when they tell me there is an update available.
On my macbook the drive powers on, spins, etc., but my laptop doesn't pick up the drive (i.e. in finder it doesn't recognize the drive).
