I have a new 2.0 GHz 13 inch aluminum macbook with Leopard OS. I am trying to attach my CRT which supports at least 100 Hz at 1600 x 1200 (works from PC) to the Macbook. I can only select 60 or 65 Hz vertical refresh rate. This is too low, looks bad! I am very disappointed.
I don't know if the OS thinks this is a limitation of the monitor (wrong), or if it is a limitation of the Macbook (I hope not). Does anybody know?
Would the 2.4 GHz Macbook do better?
Can I force the Macbook to see the monitor as generic VGA?
The 3rd party tool SwitchResX lets me create lower vertical refresh rates, and they appear in the display settings. 70 or 75 will not.
I looked up the specs for the graphics chip in the Macbook, GeForce 9400M, it will support 2048x1536 VGA resolution, but does not specify vert refresh rate.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
