External DAC for Powermac G5?

I have a Dual Powermac G5 that I want to use for my large MP3 collection ... I know it's not lossless, but the rips are fairly high quality.

To maximize the sonic performance, I'm thinking about a nice DAC for the G5. Any personal experience / recommendations?

By the way, is it best to connect a DAC using USB, firewire, optical?

budget is not a big concern ....

i use the benchmark dac-1 and can recommend it. i've got an optical connection coming from my g5 and a coax connection coming from my digi002r.

There beresford DAC might be a sensible option, it's certainly on the cheaper end but reportedly not just value for money but a serious contender. It's headphone amp is rather pithy however.
