Whenever I try to plug in an external device to my laptop through my usb ports, it acts as if nothing has happened. The device doesn't show up in finder at all and it doesn't show up on the desktop. Devices that use itunes (ipad, and ipods) don't show up there either. They do show as charging and they work fine on other laptops, just not this one. I have one ipod which shows up on my computer, weirdly enough but that is that only thing that the computer responds to. I have tried other ipods, a brand new ipad and a digital camera and the computer responds to none of these. USB mouses work, but nothing else does. I am really confused because the issue seems highly inconsistent. I would appreciate any insight into this.
