Hey guys, i googled for days for a solution to this problem but i can't seem to find it.

I broke my macbook pro display and i'm using the TV via HDMI to work. Though its resolution is low, it works fine (1360x768).

The thing is, i want to use my monitor, a 1680x1050 display (VGA only).

I'm using a mini display port to VGA adaptor but the correct resolution (1680x1050) doesn't show up in the displays configuration. I tried using many tools like easyRes, resolutionator, disableMonitor etc, but none of them works. I can choose 1680x1050 but it doesn't display correctly. 1400x1050 i can use but its obviously stretched by 200 pixels hence annoying. I even tried modifying some system files that contain the resolution options, didn't work (disabled SIP, everything).

I know the display works, i know my mac can handle the resolution, and i've always used that display through VGA.

One thing that occurred to me using one of those tools is that 1680x1050 shows up as a retina resolution or something like that. I just need the display in its native resolution, why would it be so hard? :/

Thanks in advance, i hope you can help me, i'm desperate :(
