Looking for a 27” ish display. Do I need a splitter type thing to charge and hook up my monitor at the same time? And assuming I’ll need a usb c to hdmi adapter?

What’s a good display to get for a few hundred?

If you find a monitor that has a USB-C input and supplies power, you'll only need one cable and won't need a dock.

4K will work. What I'm not certain about is if refresh rate is limited to 30Hz or if it'll do 60Hz over USB-C.

And you have to verify that the monitor also provides power over USB-C. Some monitors (not many, but there are definitely some) support input via USB-C but do not also supply power back to the laptop.
