External Display help

Hey guys,

I had a quick question regarding my Dell external display. I like to keep the resolution of it at 1280x1024, but whenever I plug it in after about a day, it goes right back to 800x600. Does anyone know how I can make it save a specific resolution, maybe using system preferences? Thanks!
