Just upgraded to Ventura.

Two Macbooks :

13” M2

16” M1 Max.

Both Ventura installs were fast and easy.

BUT

Display issues using the same monitor: Eizo EV3285, which is terrific.

The M1 Max display (connected via a Caldigit Lightning 4 cable to a Caldigit ts4 hub) performs as usual with the scaling options available (“more space” etc.).

The M2 display (connected via a HDMI cable to Belkin hub) does not offer the scaling options. Just a drop-down list of resolutions (3840x2160 – which I use on both but scaled back one notch on the M1 Max).

What to do?

I am sure it is a bug that will be remedied soon in bug fix.

Any ideas for an intermediate fix? Thank you all.

More:

Just hooked up DP to USB C on M2

Have scaling option.

BUT

I can’t use MacBook in clamshell mode. Main monitor EV3285 only works when MacBook Is

‘open’ and is secondary display. If I close MacBook Main monitor goes dark.

Curiously the HDMI Belkin combo allows me to use clamshell mode.

Flummoxed. Just recently moved from PC world and always dreaded upgrades. Maybe Mac is being infected with the same disease.

Thanks.

Problem appears to me as well after upgrading to Ventura.

Since the upgrade the MBP 16" M1 Max 2021 does not connect to my display Samsung LU32R590CWUXEN anymore using HDMI.

My connection used to be MBP --> Caldigit TS3 --> 2x Samsung LU32R590CWUXEN (Thunderbolt + Displayport) and that does not work anymore for the displays. Charging, USB, etc does work.

Any solutions?

it isn't exactly the same problem. i have good images but not full control of them as i previously had.

another twist: the "more space" windows returned knocking out the text that represented the resolutions available. Still no big deal because you can't dial resolution as before with the gradations too big.

The same problem, and solved after many trials but simple.

** before(juggy fonts)
M2 MacBook Air(USB-C) - USB-Hub - EIZO EV3285(HDMI)
OS Venture 13.1

The USB-Hub(WALNEW) is attached mainly for obtaining the power supply.

On "Displays" of "System Settings", only the resolution selection is shown
for EV3285.

Thus I can only select
the full resolution(3840x2160) with the tiny font size
or the middle resolution(1920x1080) with the default font size.

** after(smooth and large fonts)
M2 MacBook Air(USB-C) - EIZO EV3285(USB-C)
OS Venture 13.1

The key trick of this configuration is the usage of the USB-C cable
attached with the EV3285, CC200SS.
The power is supplied from EV3285, which means it is not necessary
to use the USB-Hub for the power supply.

On "Displays" of "System Settings", "Use as" selector is active
and able to select Default (text-space).

Thus I can see the full resolution with the default font size.

The service center says some ordinal USB-C cable lacks signals.

I have finally resolved the issue by buying another Caldigit TS4 hub.
The M2 is now attached via displayport and all of the resolution choices are available as is the case with the MB Pro Max M1 on another TS4 (which uses the usb c cable).

The Belkin USB-C multimedia hub (mode F4U092) being un-powered couldn't evidently handle all the data being pumped into it by a 4K display.

The Caldigit just works.

Thank you for all your help.
